ARTHRITIS/RHEUMATISM
There are many types of arthritic conditions (rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, osteoporosis, gout, etc.). With arthritis, uric acid is deposited as crystals in joint spaces causing inflammation, pain, stiffness, loss of mobility, and eventually damage to the joint. Arthritis, in any form, is a debilitating condition, causing pain and discomfort. It may interfere with work, sport, recreation, and the quality of life in general. Injuries from sport and accidents form vulnerable areas where arthritis may set in years later. Incorrect nutrition is a major contributor to this disease, and when the diet is correct, numerous satisfying results are obtained. If the excess acid in the body is eliminated, symptomatic relief will be experienced. Follow a diet high in alkaline (70-80%) and low in acid foods (20-30%). Alkaline foods are fresh fruits and vegetables. Eliminate from the diet all refined or processed foods, chemicals, preservatives, colorants, additives, flavorants, etc. An arthritis sufferer’s worst enemies are sugar (including sugar products), flour (including flour products), chemical foods, and bad food combinations. Do not combine protein with carbohydrates.
Rheumatism is a term used commonly for painful muscles and joints. Fibrositis is muscular rheumatism and is inflammation of the white fibrous connective tissue. It is not a specific condition but rather a name given to unexplained pains and stiffness in various parts of the body.
