AGING (for youth)

Aging is a slow, but nevertheless, guaranteed process. Essential oils provide a way for cellular regeneration. Carrier oils contain nutrients and proteins, which encourage rejuvenation and the regeneration of new cells. The circulation-stimulating properties of the oils oxygenate the blood, which in turn, energizes the cells allowing regeneration to take place. Certain oils contain plant hormonal properties which encourage the firming of the skin, giving it a more youthful appearance.

Nutrition is equally important as our cells receive nutrients, vitamins, and minerals from the foods we eat and the liquids we drink. Avoid alcohol, smoking, tea, coffee, candies, chocolates, and refined carbohydrates as these lower the vitality of the skin and increase the tendency to wrinkle. Adopt a whole food diet—the majority of the daily intake consisting of vegetables/salads, and fruits.

Suggested essential oils: Chamomile (Roman), geranium, lavender, neroli, lemongrass, rose geranium.

 AGING (for mature skin)

Wrinkles occur as the skin gets older because the connective tissue, which forms a great part of the inner layers (dermis) of the skin, loses its elasticity.

Aging is a natural part of life and is unavoidable. However, regular application of essential oils can reduce wrinkles to a certain extent, and play a part in the prevention of excessive wrinkling. The cell-regenerating and rejuvenating properties of the oils come into effect as they aid the skin in looking smooth by delaying the aging process in the layers of connective tissue.

A diet high in natural foods and low in refined and manufactured foods will contribute towards healthy skin. Maintaining the elasticity of the skin, the aging process can be far more gradual than when the body is loaded with carcinogens, such as cigarette smoking, alcohol, tea, coffee, drugs, chemicals, and other stimulants and impurities.

Suggested essential oils: Geranium, neroli, lavender, lemon, myrrh, rosehip, jasmine, sandalwood, lemongrass, vetiver.
